This creation myth of the Mexican Tzotzil Maya tells of the beginning of time and the creation of the stars. NeNe lives with his mother and two brothers in the darkness of the jungle. NeNe is a high-spirited boy who loves to play. But he also has special powers, and so he conjures the moon and the stars in the sky – and gives the sunlight at the end of the world.
