Djema's family must move to the capital because his father has lost his job. Together with his new friends, Djema discovers the big city, watches the famous wrestlers, is enchanted by young street musicians, plays football, and learns where to steal mangoes. During his vacation, Djema returns to his village to visit his uncle. There, several tests are waiting for him.
