Moin und das Monster
A novel from India
Release date: 03.03.2026
One night, Moin hears something shuffling and sniffling under his bed. ‘Who's there?’ the nine-year-old calls bravely into the darkness. ‘A monster!’ mumbles a voice in the dark. But when Moin shines his torch under the bed, he can't see anything.
‘You can only see me if you draw me,’ explains the monster, urging Moin to pick up a pencil. The boy has no choice and sets to work. However, his drawing skills are somewhat, well, limited... and so disaster strikes: ‘I look like a joke!’ complains the monster bitterly, ‘And I’m pink too!’.
But now it's too late: the monster is in the world – and Moin is in trouble. The uninvited guest devours lots of bananas and loves to sing, if you can call his croaking that.
Moin has to come up with all sorts of ideas to keep the headstrong creature hidden. After all, how is he supposed to explain to his parents that he shares his room with a monster? And his teacher mustn't find out who's in his school bag either. At least his friends Tony and Parvati are in on the secret.
The monster story by Indian author Anushka Ravishankar is great entertainment and a gripping, witty read.
